Haiti is an exciting and expanding program. Referral time is relatively quick and stay in country very reasonable. Haiti is also very close to the United States. It is only a 2 hour plane ride from Miami.
Children Available
• Boys and girls, infants, toddlers, and school age children.
Parents' Requirements
• One parent must be at least 30 the other can be as young as 28. If single, you must be at least 30. In cases of special needs children, the circumstances may be different. Please check with the Program Manager for details.
Number of Existing Children of Adoptive Parents
• It is preferred that the number of biological children at home not exceed three. However, a total of four biological children can be considered on a case-by-case basis. There is no requirement regarding the number of adoptive children in your home. A family need only prove that they can provide financially and be 125% above the US poverty guidelines.
Income Requirements
• Families must be 125% above the U.S. poverty level.
Marital Status
• Divorce acceptable; couples should be married at least 5 years.
Referral Time
• Immediate to 3 months after dossier submitted.
Institution or Foster Care
• Haiti has infant care facilities and orphanages (Creche).
Visits Prior to Adoption
• Depending up the facility, visit and/or volunteer trips may be organized. Talk to the program director for specific information.
Travel Information
• Parents may travel for 3-5 days (in special cases, travel may range from 10-14 days). Escort is available on a case-by-case basis.
