Financial Support
The suggested amount to sponsor a child is $30.00 per month, although the Sponsor may contribute more or less, or even increase or decrease the amount at any time. We ask that the Sponsor commit to the child for at least one year, but we understand that personal financial situations can change without notice. In the event you are unable to continue with your sponsorship, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible. The amount may be sent monthly ($30.00), quarterly ($90.00), or annually ($360.00) directly using our online services through Pay Pal under the sponsorship section of our website www.celebratechildren.org. It can also be done by sending us, Celebrate Children International, a check, which ever is more convenient. All contributions are tax deductible and at the end of the year a receipt will be mailed to you for tax purposes.
The Children
It is often difficult to predict how long the children we offer for sponsorship will remain in our program. At present, we are only accepting children who we believe are not adoptable. Children can often be moved by the courts to another home for various reasons without notice. In the event that your sponsored child is taken out of the program, you will be notified immediately and given the opportunity to sponsor another child.
Correspondence
The Sponsor may write their child anytime. Depending on the age of the child, you can also expect to receive correspondence in return a couple times a year. For those children who are too young to write, colored pictures and drawings are often sent with an update about the child’s growth, likes/dislikes, etc. All correspondence needs to be sent to the Sponsorship Coordinator’s office, who will forward them to Ethiopia to be translated. Visiting
The orphanage in Kamashi may be visited. All potential visits must be coordinated through Celebrate Children’s International Sponsorship Coordinator. However, final permission for a visit will be at the discretion of the orphanage director. All visits most likely will take place at the orphanage, unless other plans are arranged by the director. Please do not make any travel plans until you have cleared it first with the Coordinator who will contact the orphanage director.
Gifts
Many sponsors enjoy sending gifts to their sponsored child. However, sending packages is not practical because of the high cost of postage and customs duty that often exceed the cost of the gift itself. There is always the additional concern that the gift will not arrive, as the mail systems are often not reliable. If you would like a gift to be purchased for your child for a special occasion (Birthday gifts), the suggested amount of the gift is anywhere from $5.00 - $20.00 per gift and can be paid by check sent to Celebrate Children or through Pay Pal. In the comment section of the transaction the name of the child should be included and what the money is for. The money is sent to the Orphanage and when they buy the child the gift they will take photos of the child receiving it which are sent to the sponsor family.
Celebration Gifts are also known as Christmas gifts. We encourage our sponsor families to join us in sending your sponsor child a special gift for Christmas. You can do so by making a payment either by PayPal or by check to Celebrate Children International. The orphanage Director purchase the gifts according to the needs and desire of each child. You can donate not only for your sponsor child's gift, but it you find it in you heart you can also donate for another child's gift, since not all are bless to have a sponsor family.
Small, flat, lightweight items such as bookmarks, photographs, stickers, etc., (which can be included in an envelope with a letter) can be sent twice a year to CCI offices. They will be forwarded to Ethiopia.
