Holding the envelope tight in my hand and my seven-month-old son Eli on my hip, I made my way from the mailbox to the kitchen table. Although our adopted son Elijah (Eli) has been home with us for six weeks already, I still felt a special curiosity for mail sent from the adoption agency.
Upon opening the letter I found myself looking into the eyes of three beautiful Ethiopian children. These were the sisters of our Elijah, who were being cared for by various relatives after the death of their parents. Until now these girls were only names to me, but now I could clearly see the resemblance to my own son.
